Irma Johnson Director

Irma Johnson serves as FORR's director. Her experience includes:


  • Community Resource Development- Extension Department, College of Agriculture
  • Interim Director- Office of Regional Stewardship and Public Engagement (2013-21)
  • Director- Center of Excellence for the Study of Kentucky African Americans (CESKAA) (2013-present)
  • Employed at KSU for over 20 years
  • Alumni of KSU- 1992 (Elementary Education0
  • Taught in Franklin County Public Schools for 12 years
  • Masters in Elementary Education from Georgetown College (1997)
  • Current board member of (12) non-profit agencies in the Frankfort/ Franklin County community
  • Advisor to: Circle K International (Kiwanis) and Alpha Phi Omega (Pi Chapter)
  • Community Honors and Awards include:
      -Citizen’s Award- Delta Sigma Theta, Frankfort Alumni Chapter, 
      -NAACP Woman of the Year; (2012)
      - Community Builder Award- Meridian Sun Lodge #26
  • Married to William Simpson, Mother of 2, Grandmother to 6
